Installing Dumi
Dumi isn't notarized by Apple yet — the signed build is a few weeks out, and the app will tell you when it lands. Until then macOS refuses to open it once. Either way below gets you past that; both take under a minute.
By hand
- Download for macOS
- Open the disk image and drag Dumi onto Applications.
- Open Dumi from Applications. macOS says it can't verify the app — press Done.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll to the bottom. Next to the line “Dumi was blocked to protect your Mac”, press Open Anyway, then confirm with Touch ID or your password.
That's once. From then on Dumi opens like any other app, and it sits at the top of your screen: ⌥ Space opens it from anywhere.
Or one command
In Terminal:
curl -fsSL https://dumitasks.com/install.sh | sh
It downloads the same disk image, copies Dumi into Applications and opens it — files fetched this way aren't quarantined, so macOS doesn't ask. The script is twenty lines; read it first, as you should with anything you pipe into a shell.
Why the warning at all
Notarization means Apple has scanned a build and tied it to a developer account. Dumi's account is still being set up, so this build carries no Apple ticket — that is all the warning says. The app itself asks for no permissions, keeps your tasks in one file on your Mac and sends nothing about you anywhere: the privacy page lists every request it makes.
Removing it
Quit Dumi (right-click the island → Quit), drag it from Applications to the Trash, and delete
~/Library/Application Support/Dumi if you want your tasks gone too.
